LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Gannon women’s water polo team finished the two-day Bucknell Tournament with a pair of losses on Sunday. The Lady Knights fell to Princeton 13-8 and Marist 16-5.

The Lady Knights battled close during the first quarter against Princeton, with Gannon holding a 3-2 lead after the first quarter. However, the Tigers exploded for six goals in the second quarter to hold an 8-5 lead at the half.

The scoring for both teams was even in the third quarter with each netting two scores. Princeton then put the game away in the fourth quarter thanks to 3-1 scoring advantage.

Emily Sullivan (Wheeling, Ill. / Wheeling) netted half of Gannon’s eight goals. Molly Andrews (Tustin, Calif. / Tustin) and Bailey Gadd (Golden, Colo. / Lakewood) each added two scores while Libbie Guina (Houston, Texas / Clear Brook) had 11 blocks in goal

In the final game of the day, Gannon fell behind Marist early as the Lady Knights faced a 6-0 deficit after the first quarter. The Red Foxes held a 10-1 lead at the half after a 4-1 scoring advantage in the second quarter.

Gannon out-scored Marist 3-2 in the third quarter only to see Marist score four times in the final quarter while the Lady Knights managed just one goal. Marist took the win with a 16-5 final.

Five different Lady Knights scored in the match with Sullivan, Andrews, Gadd, Katelyn Jacobs (Brookfield, Ill. / Lyons Township) and Tricia Gajewski (Fairview, Pa. / Fairview) all scoring once. Janelle Bartman (Darien, Ill. / Adlai E. Stevenson) had eight blocks in goal.

The Lady Knights finished the season-opening tournament 0-4. Gannon will next compete at the Chapman Tournament on February 25-26
